It may sound old-fashioned, but Harry Sidhu loves America, and he's not ashamed to tell you
why. In 1974, Harry legally immigrated to the United States with his parents. One of the proudest moments in Harry's life was becoming an American Citizen in 1979.
Harry has always believed in the American Dream. As a young man, he mopped floors and understood the value of honest, hard work and the importance of a good education. Harry worked his way through Drexel University, earning an Engineering degree, and in 1980, settled down in Southern California gaining employment in the aerospace industry. It was our nation's peak defense build-up period, and Harry was proud to know that he was helping his country stop the communist threat.
He soon met and married his wonderful wife, Gin. They bought their first home together, and in the years to come, had two amazing children, both of whom attend pubic school. It was their "California Dream" to one day own a business. They started a local restaurant working day and night to make it succeed. In time, they came to own a number of local restaurants creating jobs for hundreds of people.
As his small business grew, Harry was committed to giving back to the community that had given him so much opportunity. After all, America isn't just about getting ahead; it's about participating in the community and local politics. Harry became active in the Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA and many other community service organizations. In 2004, he was elected to the Anaheim City Council and considers public service a meaningful way of "saying thank you and giving back."
Prior to his election, he served as Chairman of the Anaheim Budget Committee. Harry also currently serves as: Orange County Republican Party, Deputy Chairman, City of Anaheim and Republican Convention Delegate; City of Anaheim Audit Committee Member; Orange County Sanitation District Director; Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim Board Member; and Anaheim Family YMCA Advisory Board Member.
That's Harry's story. He came to our country as a child full of dreams. Harry worked hard and fulfilled many of those dreams. He is a proud American and a proud conservative Republican. Harry believes that our California government needs strong, conservative, common sense leadership. He wants to provide that leadership and continue to give back to those who have given him so much by serving you in the State Senate.
